BCCS Cave and Karst Preserves

The BCCS currently owns and manages five cave and karst preserves:

  1. The Butler Cave Homestead Preserve
  2. The Bobcat Cave Preserve
  3. The Robins Rift Preserve
  4. The Postmaster House Preserve
  5. The White-Wefer Property

In addition to the preserves the BCCS owns, the BCCS assists the owners of other caves and karst in the Burnsville Cove by

  1. Managing access to cave and karst resources in the Water Sinks Karst Preserve,
  2. Assisting with the maintenance of a kiosk, parking area and footpath for Breathing Cave, and
  3. Assisting with the management of the caves on the Wheeland Cave Preserve.

Preserve Access

Access to BCCS-owned preserves is via cave trips organized on BCCS Project Weekends.

Breathing Cave is is open from May 15 to Sept. 15 and closed at all other times. Breathing cave is NOT open to trips where a fee is charged. More information here.
