Volunteer

We are always looking for volunteers to help with our conservation efforts! Owning and protecting caves and karst require lots of hands to help with the work of maintaining roads, buildings, gates, and other features of our preserves.

Please contact the Chair of each committee if you can volunteer. Contact information can be found in the NSS Members Manual.

Everyone on BCCS preserves, going into BCCS caves, working BCCS digs or projects, or on BCCS trips needs to have a waiver on file. Please download, print, read, sign and bring with you.

Building and Grounds Committee

Mike maintains a very detailed Google Sheet of work that needs to be performed, and he offers this list as priority items that need attention:

Insulate and vapor seal under the floor of the Postmaster House.
Paint the interior of the Postmaster House.
Insulate the top of the chimney pipe on the chimney of the Butler Homestead. We first need someone to measure the diameter of the pipe.
Repair gutters on the Old Postmasters House to prevent damage to the building.
